Let’s talk about who SHOULDN’T be in HG

Some of the suggestions people give for Katniss really freak me out.

Really? I don’t want to say anything rude, but I’m not convinced. Do you really thing this represents Katniss? I admit she’s done some really good things (I liked her in Kick-Ass and I heard she was great in Nikita), but she’s in her mid-twenties and she’s been hypersexualized, which isn’t what I’d like to see happen to Katniss.

Are you guys serious?

…I’m have a lot more I could say, like about how she’s got the complete wrong personality, temperament, and image, but I’ll just stick with how she’s thirty years old. She is practically twice Katniss’s age.

HUNGER GAMES CASTING!!

I’ve finally decided, without a shadow of a doubt, that I want Sarah Bolger for Katniss.

You probably haven’t heard of her, but she’s amazing. She played Princess Mary in The Tudors, in a role where her father seeks a divorce from her mother the queen, deems her illegitimate, forces her to be a handmaiden to her half-sister, and basically makes her life hell. She plays it with tons of strength and grace, but she’s also great at conveying her internal sorrow and pain.

I think she’s PERFECT!! I don’t know how to convey to the casting directors and the producers that they need to pick her…do I email someone? Lol. But really, I can already see it!!

In fact, you learn that her husband used to stalk her prior to her marriage, watching her secretly from the woods near her home and climbing into an unsecured window at night to watch her sleep without her knowledge. Once the young woman, then seventeen, was initiated into a relationship with the man and his “family,” she was encouraged to marry right after her high school graduation. The young woman reportedly had bruises all over her body after returning from her honeymoon, where she also reportedly became pregnant. Her husband was not happy about the pregnancy and wanted her to have an abortion. She refused, eventually leading to him ripping the child from her womb, then, draining her of her blood until she finally stopped breathing. Sounds torturous and sick, doesn’t it? But in fact, this is the basis of a tween-teen literary phenomenon called the Twilight saga…
